ABOUT US

JAMAICA INDEPENDENCE FOUNDATION, INC.™ , (JIFI~NYC)  is a 501(c)(3) accredited not-for-profit /NGO entity and was created to advocate for (a) women in crisis situations,  (b) amateur youth athletes from Jamaica playing sports in the U.S., and (c) underserved communities.

Our Members are all volunteers with a diverse professional background but all of whom share one common goal, which is to give back, do good, and advocate for those who are disadvantaged or who are the most underserved among us.

JIFI~NYC fundraises on behalf of a diverse array of public charities dedicated to the betterment of our diaspora at home and here in the U.S., as well as our  global community.

Rooted in the vibrant spirit of Jamaica’s Independence, our mission is to honor and celebrate the richness of Jamaican culture while mobilizing the power of community and compassion in New York. Through culturally significant events and targeted fundraising initiatives, we aim to uplift and support:

  • Women and families emerging from crisis,

  • Underserved communities in need of essential resources, and

  • Aspiring youth athletes from Jamaica who are pursuing their dreams through sports in the United States.

By bridging our heritage with purposeful giving, we seek to inspire unity, resilience, and lasting impact—both within the Jamaican diaspora and beyond.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Jamaica Independence Foundation, Inc. proudly supported the following charities:

  • Safe Horizon – The leading victim services agency in the U.S., empowering over 250,000 survivors of crime and abuse each year in NYC.

  • Mustard Seed Communities – Provides residential care for children and adults with disabilities and supports children affected by HIV in Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

  • Rose Town Foundation – Works to improve lives in the Rose Town community through programs focused on infrastructure, socio-economic development, and health.

  • Karen’s Club – Empowers patients of color with the knowledge and confidence to access life-saving clinical trials.

2023-2024 Beneficiaries also included: UJAA, USA, Team Jamaica Bickle, and Lions Clubs International, WIN-NYC.

OUR VISION

  • To lead the investment in the human capital of our communities in the USA and Jamaica,  creating lasting, positive change in the lives of the most disadvantaged among us.
