HAPPY 62nd ANNIVERSARY JAMAICA
ABOUT US
JAMAICA INDEPENDENCE FOUNDATION, INC., (JIFI~NYC) is a 501(c)(3) accredited not-for-profit /NGO entity and was created to advocate for (a) women in crisis situations, (b) amateur youth athletes from Jamaica playing sports in the U.S., and (c) underserved communities.
Our Members are all volunteers with a diverse industry background but all of whom share one common goal, which is to give back, do good, and advocate for those who are disadvantaged or who are the most underserved among us.
JIFI~NYC fundraises on behalf of a diverse array of public charities dedicated to the betterment of our diaspora at home and here in the U.S., as well as our global community.
2021 Fundraising Initiatives, Women In Power Brunch, Gift Giving Tuesday, JIFI~NYC 5K Fun Run, along with our 2022 and 2023 Grand Black Tie - "The Official People's Ball" events - were our first ventures post COVID-19 with our new committee. And like many first-time endeavors, it was accompanied by many challenges. It is important to acknowledge the fantastic support that was provided by our Board Members, Committee Members, and loyal Volunteers, along with the many words of encouragement which came from many persons within the diaspora and beyond.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors in 2021, 2022, and 2023, Jamaica Independence Foundation, Inc., donated to the following charities: (i)Safe Horizon - which is the leading victim services agency in the U.S. Each year, they empower more than 250,000 survivors of crime and abuse across New York City to find safety, hope, and healing. (ii) Mustard Seed Communities (MSC) - the majority of programs are dedicated to the residential care of children and adults with a range of developmental and physical disabilities. MSC also cares for children affected by HIV in Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. (iii) Rose Town Foundation - their mission is to assist in creating opportunities for residents of the Rose Town community to improve the quality of their lives through active participation in development programs that enhance their built environment, socio-economic status, and community health. (iv)Karen’s Club's -mission is to empower patients of color with the knowledge and trust to pursue clinical trials that can save or extend their lives. 2023 CHARITIES: UJAA, USA, TEAM JAMAICA BICKLE AND LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL.
