Our hearts and prayers are with our friends and family in Jamaica after the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa on our beloved island.
We’re calling on our community to come together in unity and support. Please consider donating to help those who are affected and know that no contribution is too small. Every act of kindness makes a difference.
Let’s stand strong for Jamaica and for everyone who will need our help in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Our goal is to raise both monetary and in-kind donations, and to identify families in Westmoreland, Hanover, and parts of St. James (Montego Bay) Jamaica who have been most affected by the hurricane. Through a voucher system, we will connect these families directly with local merchants such as hardware stores and supermarkets so they can access food and other essential items to meet their immediate needs. In our first Phase, approved in-kind donations will be shipped to be distributed to families in these parishes. With continued donor support we hope to expand our outreach to other parishes such as Trelawny, Clarendon and St. Elizabeth.

The Jamaica Independence Foundation, Inc., (JIFI~NYC) is 501(c)(3) accredited not-for-profit/NGO and was formed and created to advocate for women and families in crisis situations, underserved communities, and amateur youth athlete's from Jamaica playing sports in the U.S. To this end, JIFI~NYC stages several annual fundraising events to aide and assist with not just raising funds for our charities but also help to bring awareness to those charities that are at the forefront championing for our people and our country. The annual "Jamaican Independence Ball" is one of our most highly anticipated fundraising event in the Northeast region of the United States. Net proceeds from our fundraising initiatives go to supporting our charities.
We aspire to be a positive force in the lives of people who are the most underserved among us. We support philanthropic organizations and communities that address issues related to our cause and mission. JIFI~NYC fundraises on behalf of a diverse array of public charities dedicated to the betterment of our diaspora at home in Jamaica and here in New York, as well as our global community. All executives, directors, and committee members are volunteers
