While the past two and a half (3) years immediately conjures words like “challenge”, “hardship”, and “crisis”, there are lessons to be learned that offer optimism, and important perspective as we embark on the future. As human beings we have a spirit that is capable of withstanding stress, and we are learning how to adapt and adjust.

The Jamaica Independence Foundation, Inc., is 501(c)(3) accredited not-for-profit/NGO and was formed and created to advocate for women in crisis situations, underserved communities and amateur athlete's from Jamaica playing sports in the U.S. To this end, JIFI~NYC stages several annual fundraising events to aide and assist with not just raising funds for our charities but to also help bring awareness to those charities that are at the forefront championing for our people and our country. The annual "Jamaican Independence Ball" is one of our most highly anticipated fundraising event in the Northeast t region of the United States. Net proceeds from our fundraising initiatives go to supporting our charities.
We aspire to be a positive force in the lives of people near and in Jamaica. JIFI~NYC's mission is to support philanthropic organizations and communities here in the U.S. and Jamaica that address issues related to women in crisis situations, while advocating for women's mental health, underserved communities, and amateur athletes from Jamaica playing sports in the U.S. , and abroad. JIFI~NYC fundraises on behalf of a diverse array of public charities dedicated to the betterment of our diaspora at home and here in New York, as well as our global community.
